• What is The Rotary Club of Pleasanton Scholarship Program?

The Rotary Club of Pleasanton presents scholarships to graduating Pleasanton high school seniors. The Warren Annis Service Above Self Scholarship, Roger Dabney Memorial Scholarship, and the Harry Plett Memorial Scholarship are each awarded in honor of former distinguished Rotarians. Financial need is the main criteria for selection for all scholarships. Other considerations are school and community activities, work experience, academic record, career & educational aspirations & goals as well as personal recommendations. • Fourth Year for our new award!
  • 2024 will be the fourth year since first awarding a scholarship in honor of Rotarian Bob Athenour.

• How much are the scholarships?

In most cases scholarships range from a single award of $250 in a single year to $6000 over 4 years.  Our club continues a trend of increasing the total amount of scholarships awarded.  See the PDF for a running total from 2006 through 2021!

• Who is eligible for a Rotary Club of Pleasanton Scholarship?

1. The applicant must be a graduating senior from a Pleasanton High School or a graduating home-schooled Pleasanton resident.
2. The applicant must plan to attend a full-time program (Minimum of 12 units) at a junior college, college or university, or full-time at a vocational or trade school. (Dependents of Rotarians are NOT eligible.)

• What is the application process?

1. Complete the application (download links above)
2. Attach additional pages as needed.
3. Include a recent school transcript. It does not need to be an official transcript.
4. Include a copy of your Federal Student Aid Report (SAR). (Go online to studentaid.gov to complete a Free Federal Application for Federal Student Aid. After completion, you will be mailed an SAR.)
5. Optional: Include letters of recommendation.
6. Return the completed application no later than March 31, 2024
   • (June 8, 2024 for college juniors and seniors)  
7. A brief interview will be held in April for high school applicants.
8. Recipients of Rotary Club of Pleasanton Scholarships are expected to write a thank you to the Club before they receive the scholarship funds.

• Other information

The application requires personal and parental financial information because this is PRIMARILY A NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. In some instances the selection committee may request prior years’ tax returns to verify financial information.
