The Rotary Club of Pleasanton Foundation has been an active provider of college / trade school scholarships to Pleasanton High School Graduates for more than thirty years. Within the last nine years, we have been able to expand our scholarship program to many of the same students in their progress of a college education and pursuit of earning their degree. Financial need is the main criteria for selection for all scholarships. Other considerations are school and community activities, work experience, academic record, career & educational aspirations & goals as well as personal recommendations.
THE PROCESS requires students who are interested to complete our application form, provide verifying documentation, recommendation letters (optional) and additional information* as requested by the Scholarship Committee. An interview will be scheduled for each eligible student to meet with the Committee during the month following the application deadline. Please review the chart below that provides links for instructions, application and other various items likely to be requested or of importance for consideration. The .pdf files can be filled in if you open them with Adobe Reader or a compatible browser (not google docs). Please save the .pdf and send it in with your other necessary documents.

* Our application requires personal and parental financial information because this is PRIMARILY A NEEDS-BASED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. In some instances, the Committee may request prior years’ tax returns to verify financial information.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS is highly dependent on the success of the Rotary Club of Pleasanton’s annual fundraisers combined with donations (from members and/or friends of Rotarians) and positive earnings from our Foundation’s endowment fund. Our Foundation has seen continued upward trends in the total number of scholarships awarded. In the last year (2024), we awarded twenty-one HS graduates ($48,100) and ten College students ($36,500) for a total of $84,600.
NOTE: It is important to understand that our scholarships are not paid out upon notification but require awardees to fulfill and submit enrollment eligibility requirements by April 1st of the following year, along with a thank you letter, to receive funds and avoid forfeiture. If a special circumstance should arise, curtailing your educational progress, it is your responsibility to let us know by October 1st (after notification of your scholarship) so that consideration can be made for deferment and/or partial payment of the award. If you do not respond / fulfill our committee’s request(s) for follow-up, it could jeopardize any further consideration for a current or future award from our Foundation.
HONORARY SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded each year for former distinguished Rotarians who exemplified leadership, integrity and implementation of all components of Rotary’s Four-Way Test. We currently have four, as follows:
